College Advising Events
Dear Students and Parents,
Many important events will be taking place throughout the year, especially significant to upper high school students, so it's important to keep checking for updates.
Every year, NAC receives representatives from international universities to speak to grade 11 and 12 students. Our most recent visitor was a representative of the University of Kentucky on Sunday, March 18. The representative shared valuable information with our grade 11 students including how to apply to universities in the USA in general, how to obtain scholarships, as well as benefits from studying at the University of Kentucky and what it offers regarding facilities, faculties, various majors and opportunities for development. The first visit this year was from a representative of NYU Abu Dhabi, New York University on September 19, 2011. On October 11, we received a visit from representatives of Global Vision for Academic Services, which represents approximately 70 UK, 60 USA and 20 Canadian Universities. On November 16, we received a visit from Global Consultants, who represent two of the top hotel management institutes worldwide: Les Roches International School of Hotel Management - Switzerland and Glion Institute of Higher Education, in addition to NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (International Academy of Art & Design, Milan)- click "English" on the top right corner of their website.
On Wednesday, February 22, we hosted a local university exhibition for grade 11 and 12 students. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to meet directly with university representative, ask questions, and receive brochures and other information. The following universities were exhibiting:
The British University in Egypt (BUE)
Canadian International College (CIC)
Future University in Egypt (FUE)
The German University in Cairo (GUC)
Modern Sciences and Arts University (MSA)
The annual Senior Tea, an informational meeting for seniors and their parents, was held at NAC on October 26. Information shared included:
On Monday, November 14, the Seniors visited the AUC campus, attended a short presentation and took a tour of the campus. On Sunday, December 4, AUC's School of Sciences & Engineering held an Open Day for prospective students and parents, which included presentations by the Dean, Department Chairs, faculty and students.
Another important means to receive direct information about international universities is to attend university fairs. The international education fairs offer very useful information including admissions requirements, tuition and scholarships if available, in addition to brochures and programs of study. Most importantly, they provide the opportunity to ask questions and obtain any additional information directly from the representatives of the various universities and colleges. The fact that these universities are marketing in Egypt and other countries in the area means that they WANT to recruit international students and may already have a substantial number of international students enrolled.
On March 12 and 13, Global Vision for Academic Services organized a "Study in UK" univeristy fair at the Intercontinental City Stars, Sans Sousi Hall 1, 5:30-9 pm. Participating universities included: Hertfordshire University; Queen Mary, University of London; University of Essex; and University of the West of England, Bristol.
