The instructional goals of this program are to encourage creative and systematic investigation of formal and conceptual issues.
The students will be making art as an ongoing process that involves informed and critical decision making.
They will develop technical skills and will get familiarized with the functions of visual elements which will encourage them to become independent thinkers contributing  inventively and critically to their culture through the making of art.
The art Program promotes a sense of quality in a student’s work, concentration on a particular visual interest or problem and  extended experience in a formal,  technical and expressive manner.
This program will help students compile works of art in the form of a portfolio required by  certain faculties for university admission.

Portfolios

Students will develop their portfolios in this class.

The portfolios share a basic structure which requires the student  to show a fundamental competence and range of understanding in visual concerns and methods
Section 1
The student will be permitted to select the works that best exhibit a synthesis of form, technique, and content.

Section 2
Students will be asked to demonstrate a depth of investigation and process of discovery through the concentration section

Section3
The student will be asked to demonstrate a serious grounding in visual principles and material techniques

Requirements for the Upper School Art Program

Due to the significant commitment that this program requires, only highly motivated students can join as it will help prepare them for the university through the development of the appropriate portfolios required by the different art faculties.

Students will work in close cooperation with the teacher inside and out of  the classroom and beyond the scheduled periods.

They will need to maintain a sketch book or journal which is a necessary component of instruction and the student’s work will be analyzed and assessed on a regular basis.
Ongoing critical analysis, through individual critiques, enables the student and the teacher to assess the strengths and weaknesses in the work.
Students will be assigned interpretive projects that they will need to research to begin improvising ideas that they can express artistically.
This program involves field trips and visits to different sites to enhance artistic creativity, imagination and talent.
